It’s been a while since I posted a fun classroom theme! So here is a compilation of the best ideas I’ve seen for an awesome detective classroom theme. This theme is great because: which kid out there doesn’t fantasize about going to a super secret spy school? With a theme like this, you’ll have your students feeling like they’re part of a very exclusive and important mission within their school. So, take out your shades, magnifying glasses and trench coats and check out these awesome ideas for the best detective classroom theme.
Classroom Decor
Here are some ways to decorate your class to look like the ultimate spy’s lair.
If you’re artistic and can pull off this kind of elaborate anchor chart, your kids will love to refer to it for all of their reading strategies. (Taken from A Walk in My Shoes)Door decor! Also, “spy of the week” is a great way to celebrate a student of the week. (Seen on Pinterest)Another great door idea! (Seen on Pinterest)These detective badges would make for great first day of school name tags. (Taken from Enjoying The Small Things)Just for fun :). (Taken from Catch My Party)An awesome poster series to get kids to expand their vocabulary. (Seen on Pinterest)A nice poster for your walls. (Taken from Teachers Notebook)When don’t we need a noise level reference? (Seen on Pinterest)Decor that’s easy enough to re-create. (Seen on Pinterest)
Student Activities
Here are some activities that fit right in with this theme :).
This is a great worksheet for junior students. Or, you could use it for younger students as well, but tweak the layout to be more appealing. (Taken from What The Teacher Wants)A good math center activity. (Taken from Foxwell Forest)Something for early finishers, or as a morning exercise. (Taken from Mrs. Jumps)A mission of kindness. (Taken from The Polka Dotted Teacher)Another good one for centers. (Taken from The First Grade Parade)The idea here is to fill this box with clues, and have kids use inference to guess what you’re getting at. (Taken from The Inspired Apple)Set students on a hunt for important text elements. (Seen on Pinterest)Since you’ll have such experienced detectives on your hands, they should have no problem writing an instructional paragraph about how to solve a mystery. Resources
Here are some resource ideas to help you along the way.
Printable bookmarks to give as student incentives or gifts. (Taken from Teachers Notebook)Printable schedule headings.
